The last few years have brought challenges many of us have never faced. Those challenges, in some form or fashion, were stressful; in some ways, stress brought out the worst in humanity. However, here in Wadsworth, we do things differently. We work in a community, value diversity, and believe that the power of kindness cannot be underestimated. Kindness is good not only for our community but also for you! Kindness has been shown to increase self-esteem, empathy, and compassion. Kindness can improve mood, decrease blood pressure, and reduce the stress hormone cortisol. Kindness boosts serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters that promote pleasure and well-being! Kindness increases interpersonal connections, which combat loneliness. People who work to be kind (and give of themselves in a balanced way) tend to be happier and live longer.
