The last few years have brought challenges many of us have never faced before, those challenges, in some form or fashion were stressful, and in some ways that stress brought out the worst in humanity. However here in Wadsworth, we do things differently, we work in community, value diversity and believe that the power of kindness cannot be underestimated. Kindness is not only good for our community it's but also good for you! Kindness has been shown to increase self-esteem, empathy and compassion. Kindness can improve mood, decrease blood pressure and reduce the stress hormone cortisol. Kindness boosts serotonin and dopamine which are neurotransmitters that promote feelings of pleasure and wellbeing! Kindness increases interpersonal connections which combats loneliness. In fact, people who worked to be kind (and give of themselves in a balanced way) tend to be happier and live longer.
